Our Orthodox Heritage

Our family's connection to the Orthodox tradition runs deep. We originate from Plesio, a village in Epirus home to 14 churches, and a place of profound spiritual significance. Patriarch Anthimos VII, the Ecumenical Patriarch, was born in our village in 1895. Kyra Vasiliki, the matriarch of our family, dedicated her life to supporting the Church, funding the construction and restoration of nearly 40 churches throughout the region.

This heritage shapes our values. We understand ecclesiastical spaces: the rhythm of liturgical processions, the role of the environment in facilitating prayer, and the materials that honour both tradition and function. Over 400 ecclesiastical installations across Greece reflect the trust placed in our work by parishes, monasteries, and dioceses.

Why Wool for Sacred Spaces

Wool is the natural choice for ecclesiastical environments. Unlike synthetic materials, our 99% wool carpets offer a constellation of advantages tailored to the demands of churches and monasteries:

  • Natural Flame Resistance: Wool's inherent molecular structure makes it resistant to ignition—a critical property in candle-laden liturgical spaces where open flames are integral to worship.
  • Acoustic Dampening: Wool fibres absorb sound, creating the acoustic properties that allow liturgical chanting and prayer to resonate with clarity and reverence rather than harsh echo.
  • Durability for Processional Use: Ecclesiastical carpets endure heavy, concentrated foot traffic—from Sunday processions to pilgrimage seasons. Our dense construction sustains this use for decades.
  • Aligned with Orthodox Tradition: Natural, noble materials reflect the theological values of Orthodox Christianity. Wool connects the sacred space to the earth and creation itself, free from synthetic chemicals.
  • Reversible Construction: Our carpets' reversible design extends their useful life, allowing worn surfaces to be flipped and rotated for continued service across multiple decades.

Application Areas

Our ecclesiastical carpets are designed for all zones of the Orthodox church:

  • Central Nave and Aisles: Defining the processional path and accommodating the gathered faithful during liturgy.
  • Altar and Sanctuary Area: The holiest space, where precision, durability, and reverence in material selection are paramount.
  • Solea and Bishop's Throne: High-visibility zones requiring carpets that reflect the dignity of these liturgical stations.
  • Narthex and Entrance: First impression spaces that set the tone of reverence as worshippers enter.
  • Monastery Corridors and Cells: Supporting monastic life with durable, natural underfoot comfort in spaces of contemplation and work.

Colour Range for Ecclesiastical Use

Our palette honours the liturgical traditions of the Orthodox Church. We offer colours that complement sacred spaces and serve the symbolic and practical needs of ecclesiastical environments:

  • Burgundy and Wine Tones: Reflecting the solemnity and richness of Orthodox iconography and vestments.
  • Gold and Amber: Echoing the light of the iconostasis and the golden liturgical tradition.
  • Natural and Ivory: Timeless, neutral tones that allow iconography and architecture to take precedence.
  • Deep Blue: A contemplative tone reflecting the celestial dimensions of Orthodox theology and tradition.

Care & Maintenance

We provide comprehensive care support for every ecclesiastical installation, ensuring your carpets maintain their appearance and performance for decades.

  • Onsite cleaning services: Our team performs professional cleaning at your premises, minimising disruption to worship activities.
  • Gentle vacuuming: Regular vacuuming without rotating brush heads to remove dust and particulates.
  • Professional dry cleaning: Periodic professional care using low-moisture extraction methods suitable for wool.
  • Reversible construction: Periodically flip to distribute wear evenly, doubling the functional lifespan.
  • Avoid: High-alkaline detergents and excessive wetting — wool responds best to gentle cleaning methods.

Cathedral Runners & Large-Format Installations

Large-format ecclesiastical installation requires specialised manufacturing expertise. We produce nave runners in continuous lengths for cathedrals and major metropolitan churches, ensuring colour consistency and structural uniformity across the entire installation. Red, burgundy, and gold carpet runners dominate traditional ecclesiastical aesthetics, though we offer a full bespoke palette.

Our team manages full logistics coordination for large ecclesiastical projects — from onsite measurement to phased installation that minimises worship disruption. We support heritage-listed buildings, stone church restorations, and new builds equally.

Granted Permission by Archaeological Committees

Our products have been granted permission by archaeological committees for installation in monumental churches of archaeological significance. This confirms that our materials, construction, and aesthetics meet the strict standards required for cultural heritage sites.
